This is a design I produced for my interactive poster, I kept the design simple and to the point so that if people were to see it on a wall they weren't bombarded with information.
When we had a final design tweaked to the outcomes we were aiming for we went out and hit the streets. Over the space of an hour we put them up on lots of the buildings on Boar Lane and started to ask members of the public what they thought the buildings should be turned into.
The suggestions we received were very varied, some very innovative but some not quite what i would have written down.
•Swimming baths
•Studio apartments
•Artist studios
•Temporary accommodation for the homeless
•John Lewis
•Offices
•Cheap affordable homes
•Just knock it down
•School
•Preserve for future
A table recording how many people passed by the area on a Tuesday lunch time,
Men | Women | ||
18-29 | 51 | 18-29 | 30 |
30-50 | 28 | 30-50 | 21 |
50+ | 21 | 50+ | 12 |
3:2 Ratio of men to women walking past
Occupied buildings – 13
Unoccupied buildings – 9
41% Unoccupied
Between 12:40 and 12:50 – 48 cars drove past
All available roadside parking was limited and expensive, one way street
“Preserve the building for the future, if a school or something else is needed then the structure is already there. Its horrible to look at but if it was refurbished it would be better.”
